While the Valley Junior Warrior teams are most often making news on the ice, there are many times when the players, coaches and parents make a difference in an another arena.
This past holiday season – while many youth teams were on the road competing in national tournaments – Mark Lester’s Mite Selects took on a new sport – BOWLING – as a way to help those in need! As part of The Eagle-Tribune Santa Fund, an annual fundraising initiative that raises money to help those in need of assistance during the holiday season, the Mite Selects team held a fundraiser of their own last month at the Bradford Bowling Alley.
Each player was responsible for obtaining sponsors in order to raise as much money as possible for The Eagle-Tribune Santa Fund. In the end, the team raised a total of \$1,190.80, which impressed everyone including the Eagle-Tribune Santa Fund organizers.
As is evident from the photo to the right, the players and coaches not only raised significant funds for the program but they had a good time while doing it!
Congratulations on a job well done go out to all the players on the squad: Liam Burke, Matthew Collins, Ronan Cunningham, Mike Cooper, John Day, Ryan Donnelly, Nicholas Foderaro, Zachary Gray, Thor Griffith, Patrick Hughes, Zachary Keating, Eric Lester, Christopher Mills, Sean O’Connell, Nathan O’Neil, Eric Roberts, Cameron Schmitt, Jake Straticus and Stephen Wright.
The Mite Selects will look forward to getting back on the ice this coming weekend with a match up against New England Hockey League foe Tri-Town 1 on Saturday and then a battle with the Blades at the Haverhill Valley Forum on Sunday.
