LAWRENCE, Ma. -- The Peewee Nationals are coming to the Valley Forum!
Valley Associates is proud to announce the Junior Warriors will be hosting the 2006 USA Hockey 2006 National Championship Tier I 12 and under tournament, which will take place at the Forum March 29-April 2 of next year.
?This is an exciting time for all of us around here,? Valley president Paul Gilmartin said of the event, which will feature the Junior Warriors Peewee Majors and 11 other outstanding programs from the districts around the country. ?The people on our staff have already been working hard to make sure this is a huge event for us and for all of amateur hockey.
?We?re thrilled to have been selected by USA Hockey.?
Darlene Roberge and Marie Monagle of the Valley staff are coordinating the weekend and will be off to Voorhees, N.J. next month for this year?s event as they look to pick up pointers for the Valley?s much-anticipated debut as a national host.
The big names in USA Hockey will be here. As the host team, the Warriors, powerful again this season as Peewee Minors, are guaranteed a spot. But other names you have to consider include:
Alaska All Stars
Detroit Little Caesars
Florida Jr. Panthers
Long Island Royals
Los Angeles Hockey Club
New Jersey Jr. Devils
Philadelphia Jr. Flyers
South Shore Dynamos
St. Louis Amateur Blues
An impressive list!
?There?s going to be a lot of great hockey played here that weekend,? says Warrior coach Peter King. ?It?s such a thrill to have all the best coming into our backyard to play for the national championship. It?s a chance for us to showcase our program against the very best around.?
Teams will have a good time when they participate in the Easton Skills Challenge which is a fun, spirited event. All kinds of souvenirs and photos will be available. There will also be an opening ceremony, which will include guest speakers and is still in the planning stage.
?Our goal is to make this event as special and memorable as possible,? said Roberge. ?We will do everything to make all these teams feel at home. This is a very exciting time for all of us. The actual tournament is still over a year and there?s so much work to do, but we?re looking forward to it.?
