The Valley Jr Warrior '01 players certainly enjoyed a great start to the New Year!
In the second full week of league play, two Warrior players were recognized for outstanding play by their respective leagues. Nick Cafarelli of the VJW '01 Elites and Matt Walsh of the VJW '01 Selects were named Players of the Week for the Elite 9 Hockey League and Boston Hockey League, respectively.
With his team on an impressive
five-game winning streak in league play and after a run to the
semifinals at the 2015 Kennedy Memorial Tournament, Cafarelli has been a
big part of that success.
During the week ending on January 11th,
Cafarelli earned league accolades after a seven-point weekend. He posted
two assists in a morning 5-4 loss against the Glades and then exploded
for three goals and two assists in a strong 6-3 win later that day in
Vermont. Since that day, the Warriors have won four straight and have
outscored their opponents by a 12-to-6 margin.
Walsh, who is part of a VJW '01
Select team that is in a fierce '01 American Division battle in the
Boston Hockey League, scored the game winner at the 8:18 mark of the
third period in a key 4-3 win over the Cyclones. One day earlier, it was
