Former VJW Junior A Star Ryan Fitzgerald Named Eagle of the Week
Congratulations to former VJW Junior A standout Ryan Fitzgerald who was just named the Boston College Eagle of the Week.
Fitzgerald earned that honor after scoring Boston College's first hat trick of the season. Within that trifecta was two power play goals and the game-winner. The North Reading native who was the 2013 EJHL Rookie of the Year while playing for Andy Heinze's squad - had registered a pair of two-goal performances this season before becoming the first Eagle to record a hat trick since Johnny Gaudreau turned the trick on March 29, 2014.
Fitzgerald now leads the Eagles with 12 goals on the season and is just one tally shy of matching last year's freshman year total.
Fitzgerald also became the
first Eagle this season to score a pair of power play goals in a game and became the 38th skater
in college hockey to record a hat trick this season.
During his time as a Warrior, Fitzgerald netted14 goals and 16 assists in 26 regular season games for the Warriors. He was also a two-time Massachusetts Super 8 Tournament Champion at Malden Catholic and was selected by the Boston Bruins in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
