The VJW Junior A team came off a 13-day holiday break and claimed a key Eastern Hockey League (EHL) victory over the New Jersey Titans on December 6th. The Warriors - fueled by a three-goal first period - skated to a 4-2 win in Middletown, New Jersey.
Brendan Heinze (Danville, NH) - who leads the team in scoring with 15 points - scored at the 11:02 mark of the first stanza. David Kellner (Chicago, IL) and Alex Lester then scored within three minutes of each other to help the Warriors to a 3-0 lead.
Lester - thanks to helpers from Heinze and Austin O'Rourke (White, GA) extended the lead to 4-0 at the 6:40 mark of the second stanza to provide all of the cushion that the team would need. They would cruise to a 4-2 win with Colin Soucy (North Andover, MA) picking up the victory between the pipes. Soucy finished with 25 saves.
The VJW Junior A squad will next be in action on Thursday, December 11th when they travel to Bridgewater to take on the Boston Bandits in an afternoon tilt.
The Warriors will return home on Sunday, December 14th to face off against the New York Bobcats. Game time is 12:05 p.m. at the Haverhill Valley Forum.
