VJW '00 Selects Step Out in Support of a Friend & a Great Cause
One Valley Jr Warrior team took a break from on-ice training to raise funds and awareness for an important cause.
Members of the VJW ’00 Select team - including Head Coach Paul Sacco (shown right) and numerous friends and family - came together to participate in the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, which was held on Saturday on the Boston Common.
The Warriors came together to support one of their own and they raised more than \$1,500 for the American Diabetes Foundation.
Tommy Robarge, a defenseman for the VJW squad who proudly wears #15, was diagnosed this past March with Type 1 diabetes after a viral infection attacked his pancreas and caused it to stop working.
He was hospitalized and officially diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes during the spring tryouts.
Immediately after his discharge from Children’s Hospital, Tommy headed for the Haverhill Valley Forum for the final night of tryouts.
His teammates call him a fierce competitor on and off the ice who participates in three major sports – football, hockey and lacrosse.
He continues to inspire his teammates who were proud to support him in the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes.
Kudos to Tommy and the entire VJW squad for a job well done!
