The Valley Jr Warriors continued its tradition of placing players at top programs.
The Warriors announced that Charlie Widmar (Northbrook, IL), a standout forward for the Junior A squad, has committed to St. Olaf College for the 2014-15 season. The Lions play in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and is a private liberal arts school located in Northfield, Minnesota.
Through 38 games with the Warriors, Widmar is the team's third leading scorer with 8 goals and 18 assists. During his team's recent two-game winning streak, Widmar registered key assists in each contest. As a result of his strong play this season, Widmar was named a Second-Team All Star by the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).
"We are thrilled for Charlie and his entire family," said Andy Heinze, VJW Junior A head coach. "It is a great fit for him and I know that he will be able to step in and contribute."
Widmar, who resides in Northbrook,
Illinois, will be joining a strong St. Olaf squad. In fact, the Lions
are in the midst of a six-game winning streak and stand third overall
in the MIAC standings.
In just 10 years of operation, the
