To say that the VJW '01 Elite team is on a roll would be a major understatement.
Two weeks after capturing the 2013 Warrior Thanksgiving Tournament title, the talented Warrior squad traveled to Hudson (NH) to take part in the 2013-2014 Super01 Series Tournament.
Featuring some of the top teams in the region, the Warriors were outstanding as they posted a 5-1-0 record to outshine the Richmond Generals, Northern Cyclones, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes, Rhode Island Saints and the Boston Jr. Penguins.
In its first five games, the Warriors scored 22
goals and allowed just nine against. The team has also now won seven
out of its last 10 games.
Here is a summary of the team's first five games at the 2013-2014 Super01 Series Tournament.
VJW '01 Elites 7, Boston Jr. Penguins 1
Using a balanced offensive attack, seven different VJW players found the back of the net. Scoring in that game were Casey Langley, Nicholas Cafarelli, Tyler McGolddrick, Jared Mscisz, David Sacco, Patrick Vetter and Dalton McCann.
VJW '01 Elites 3, Rhode Island Saints 1
The Warriors scored twice in the second period and matched the
Saints only goal in the third period to hold off its rival from Rhode
Island. Scoring twice for the Warriors was Cafarelli, while Langley
added a lone tally.
VJW '01 Elites 3, Richmond Generals 2
Finding itself trailing for the first time in the tournament,
the VJW team dug deep and stormed back for the exciting 3-2 victory. The
Warriors scored twice in the second period and once in the third period
to secure the victory. Cafarelli lit the lamp twice, while McCann added
VJW '01 Elites 6, Carolina Hurricanes 4
In a high-scoring affair, the Warriors exploded for two goals
in the second period and three in the final stanza to notch the 6-4 win.
Langley and Cafarelli scored twice, while Cameron Lawhorne and Sacco also found the back of the net.
VJW '01 Elites 3, Northern Cyclones 1
Following a scoreless first period, the Warriors scored twice
in the second period and held the Cyclones to just one goal en route to
the 3-1 victory. Sacco (2-0) and Cafarelli (1-0) were the Warrior goal
