Four VJW Players Receive NEHL Player of the Week Honors
To say it was a great week for the Warriors would be an understatement.
Four standout youth players received Player of the Week honors from the New England Hockey League (NEHL) as a result of their outstanding play during the week ending on October 13th.
Congratulations to Aaron Harmon (99-Full), Pat Cooper (00S), Gavin Kiley (03E) and Lucas Canelli (03E) on this latest honor. Here is a summary of what they did to receive league accolades.
In the NEHL 03 American Division, Gavin Kiley and Lucas Canelli
combined to post back-to-back shutout victories against the Red Rangers.
The netminders also received strong offensive support as the Warriors
outscored the Rangers during those teams by an 18-to-0 margin.
first game - a 7-0 decision - Drew Blackwell and Adam Heinze both had a
goal and two assists, MikeDinges scored twice and Charlie Dean finished
with one goal and one assist. The next day, it was AnthonyCafarelli
who wore the hat, while Tom Sacco scored twice and Owen Burke and
Blackwell both had 1-1-2. Colin Van Stry also had two assists in the
Warriors’ dominating 11-0 win.
The Warriors 99 Full Season squad snapped a two-game losing streak on
October 12th with an important 2-1 decision against the Wizards. Aaron
Harmon came up big for the Warriors by scoring twice in the second
period to lead his squad to victory. Since that game, the Warriors have
posted four straight league wins in the NEHL’s 99 National Division.
In NEHL 00 North National Division play, the VJW 00S team came through
with a dramatic victory against the Blazers. In that contest, AJ
McKearney scored the game winner with just 18 seconds left. However, it
was PatCooper’s hat trick which paced the team and earned him Player of
the Week honors.
