Brendan Leahy & Jake Schechter Earn Player of the Week Honors
Congratulations to Brendan Leahy(Reading, MA), who was named the Eastern Junior Hockey League's Defensive Player of the Week after a pair of stellar performances this past weekend.
Leahy led the VJW Junior A squad and registered two shutout victories en route to a weekend sweep of the Philadelphia Revolution. After turning away 14 shots on Saturday, Leahy recorded 49 saves on Sunday to help his team secure the 4-0 win over the Revolution.
In 26 games this season, Leahy has posted 12 wins, 2.24 GAA and a .925 save percentage. He hails from Reading, MA.
Also receiving accolades this past week by the EJHL was defenseman Jake Schechter(Naples, FL) who received Honorable Mention recognition in the Rookie of the Week category. Just weeks after verbally committing to
Northeastern University, Schechter had one of his biggest offensive
weekends to date. The powerful defenseman scored once and added two
assists in the Warriors big win over the Philadelphia Revolution on
Sunday. It marks the second time this season that Schechter has netted
three points in one game.
The VJW Junior A team will next be in
action this coming weekend when they hit the road on Saturday to take on
the Bay State Breakers. The team will return home to the Haverhill
Valley Forum on Sunday to face off against the Northern Division leading
Junior Bruins.
Game time on Sunday is 1:10 p.m. and spectators are encouraged to come cheer on the Warriors!
