VJW '97 Elite Players Prepare for High School Challenges
The VJW ’97 Elites team may not be hitting the ice together for the next three months, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be making headlines. Nearly the entire roster of players took a break from Warrior play to try out for their high school teams... and all of those who were eligible made the varsity squad.
This latest accomplishment comes on the heels of the team’s victory at the U-14 Tier 1 State Championship last month and a quarterfinal appearance at the 2011 Bauer International Invitational. After the players compete for the high school teams, they will come together in March to prepare for what will be their second trip to the USA Hockey Nationals in the last three years. “From day one our goal has been trying
to prepare these players for high school and to develop them and get
them to be better players,” said Steve MacAdams, head coach of the VJW ’97 Elites and the program’s director of program development.
Ranked
seventh in the country according to www.myhockeyrankings.com. the
Warriors won all but one game in New England Hockey League (NEHL) action
and was victorious at the 2011 Warrior National Showcase held back in
August.
