VJW Junior As Split Weekend Series With Apple Core
The winning streak may have come to an end, but the Valley Jr. Warriors Junior A team split a weekend series with Apple Core to improve to 9-6-1 and stand in second place in the EJHL’s Northern Division.
The Warriors have won five out of their last seven games. They were on a five-game win streak until they suffered a 4-1 loss to the South Shore Kings during a weekday showdown. They then traveled to Long Island, New York this past weekend where they lost the first but won the second contest big against an always-tough Apple Core squad.
On Saturday, the Warriors came up one goal short as they fell by a score of 3-2. In that game, Josh Woody(Sunderland, MD) and Mark Meads(Middleton, MA) both scored, while Noah Klag(Bryn Mawr, PA) made 18 saves between the pipes.
The following day was an entirely different story. The Warriors scored
two times in each period en route to a convincing 6-0 victory. Leading
the charge offensively was John Rogeri(Katy, TX) with two goals and ConnorMcStravick(Philadelphia, PA) who added three assists. Also finding the back of the net were Woody (his second of the weekend), Brett Mason(Rowley, MA), John Jackson(Bixby, OK) and Harris. Fabian Sivnert(Hollviken) was perfect in net as he collected 30 saves for his sixth win of the young season.
The VJW Junior A team will next be in action this weekend in a
home-and-away battle against Boston Bandits.
Spectators are welcome to
visit the Haverhill Valley Forum on Saturday to cheer the Warriors on. Game time is 8:10 p.m.
