The VJW Junior A team extended its win streak to four games this weekend with victories against the Rochester Stars and the New England Huskies at the 2011 New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs Showcase which was held at the Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett, NH.
During the team’s recent four-game stretch - which dates back to October 10 - the Warriors have outscored their opponents by a 20-to-9 margin.
Following a seven-day break, the Warriors looked rusty for all of a minute (Rochester scored at the 1:09 mark of the first period) before they hit their stride and exploded for three unanswered tallies en route to the 3-1 win over the Stars. Max Lorenzren(Leesburg, VA), Trevor Braun(Windham, ME) and John Rogeri (Katy, TX) all scored, while Connor McStravick(Philadelphia, PA) added
a game-high two assists. Noah Klag (Bryn Mawr, PA) saved 18 of 19 shots
to pick up his third win of the season.
The following afternoon, special teams took center stage as the VJW
Junior A squad posted three power-play goals to propel them to a 3-1
decision against the Huskies. Braun - who has registered at least one
point in the past four games - Rogeri and McStravick all found the back
of the net in that contest. John Jackson(Bixby, OK) picked up two
assists for a three-point weekend. Fabian Sivnert(Sweden) got the call
in net and responded by collecting 31 saves.
Spectators are encouraged to visit the Haverhill Valley Forum on
Wednesday when the Warriors will look to further extend their win streak
with a league showdown against the South Shore Kings.
