The VJW 03 Selects are one of seven Warriors teams that are taking part in the inaugural season of the Hockey Northeast. This exciting new league features USA Hockey National Bound registered teams playing at the Tier 1 AAA Elite level.
Although the young squad has played just three league contests thus far, the players are off to a “flying” start as they have posted a 2-1-1 record and have scored 27 goals thus far.
One special moment came during a game where the Warriors were en route to a strong 12-2 victory over the Springfield Rifles. In the photo featured to the right, Drew Tobia and Sean Brown did their best impression of “Sanderson to Orr”.
This photo brings back memories of the 1970
Stanley Cup finals when Derek Sanderson laid a perfect pass on the stick
of Bobby Orr that resulted in the goal that not only won the Boston
Bruins their first Stanley Cup in 29 years, but also became the most
widely published photo in hockey history.
The Warriors - led by head coach Joe O’Grady and assistant coaches Shawn Richmond, Matt Canelli and Lou Tobia - will look to create even more memories this coming season during their first season in the Hockey Northeast. Best of luck to all of the players (some shown below!!)
