2011 Event Preview
2010WNS_logo2.jpgIn just a few short weeks, a field of some of the best youth hockey teams will travel to Haverhill to take part in the 2011 Warrior National Showcase. This annual tournament began as a way for local teams to prepare for the season. Four years later, it has become a premier pre-season event featuring some of the nation’s teams.

This year’s Showcase - scheduled for August 25-28 - will feature seven division and more than 70 teams from the United States, Canada and the Ukraine. Those teams will take part in a minimum of four games.

This year’s field is already proving to be one of the strongest to date (see below for a divisional breakdown).

“We are happy to see our tournament program continue to expand each year,” said Steve MacAdams, the VJW director of program development. “The strength of each competing division will help each team better prepare for the rigors of the upcoming season and provide them with a fun few days of hockey in August.”

As program director, MacAdams works closely with participating programs and helps to evaluate talent to ensure that all teams are evenly matched. This year’s Warrior National Showcase will feature teams from the following divisions: 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

“Our staff works hard to accommodate the needs of each program and make the experience a positive one for the players, coaching staff and parents,” said MacAdams.

To MacAdam’s point, all Valley Jr Warriors events are managed by a professional staff with decades of experience running youth and junior level tournaments. The Warriors annually open its doors to the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) Eastern Showcases and Playoffs and Hockey Night in Boston and played host to the 2006 USA Hockey Nationals.

When running its own events, the Warriors provide each team with a tournament liaison and the tournament staff works closely with each participant to create a schedule that works best with its travel plans. In addition, real-time scores are posted online throughout the tournament.
