Chris Kreider & Team USA Fall In Quarterfinals Against Czech Republic
Team USA - led by former VJW star Chris Kreider(Boxford, MA)
- fell in the quarterfinals against the Czech Republic at the
International Ice Hockey Federation World Men's Championship which was
held in Kosice and Bratislava, Slovakia.
During another strong run at the title, Team USA posted victories
against Austria, Norway and Sweden (in the qualification round held on
May 7). In Team USA's opening game against Austria on April 30, Kreider
scored his team's first goal and was named the U.S. Player of the Game.
He went on to record an assist against Norway and then came through with
the game-winning goal on the power play in a huge 3-2 win against
France. Kreider was also a member of the bronze medal-winning 2011 U.S. National
Junior Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior
Championship and was part of the first U.S. National Junior Team to win
consecutive medals (2010-gold). A first round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry
Draft, Kreider is coming off his sophomore season with Boston College
where he recorded 24 points in 32 games.
