Following another dominating performance on
Wednesday afternoon, the Valley Jr Warriors Junior A squad knocked off
the Philadelphia Revolution in the first round of Eastern Junior Hockey
League (EJHL) playoffs and earned a spot in the quarterfinals set to
begin on March 5.
As a result of their performance, the Valley Jr Warriors will now face
off against the Northern Division leading New Hamsphire Jr Monarchs on
March 5 at the
Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett (NH). Game time
is 5:30 p.m. and spectators are encouraged to come cheer on the
Warriors in their bid to advance to the EJHL Semifinals.
Complete EJHL playoff coverage can be found online at www.easternjunior.com and all games will be shown live on www.FastHockey.com.
The third seed in the Northern Division, the Warriors hosted the
Revolution this week in a first-to-three-point series at the Haverhill
Valley Forum. The home team - led by a two-goal performance by
Andrew Bonazza (Dartmouth, MA) - took a commanding lead in the series on Tuesday evening when they skated to a 4-1 victory.
Less than 24 hours, the squad once again exerted its offensive and
defensive prowess by scoring three unanswered goals in the third period
and holding the Revolution to just two goals to post a 4-2 win and
advance to the next round of playoffs.
In that second game, the Warriors were led by four goal scorers - Zach Sarig (Wyommissing, PA), Max Lorenzen (Leesburg, VA), Mike Miller (Wrentham, MA) and John Rogeri (Katy, TX). Riki Retelle (Andover, MA) added two assists and Chris Eiserman (West Newbury, MA) was a force once again in net by stopping 47 out of 49 shots for his second straight EJHL playoff victory.
