Former VJW standout Chris Kreider led Team USA to a bronze-medal finish at the International Ice
Hockey Federation World Junior Championship with a 4-2 win over Sweden.
The Boxford native who grew up playing for the Valley Junior Warriors organization netted two goals in that final game and was named Team USA's Player of the Game.
Team USA finished the tournament with a 4-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record and earned consecutive medals for the first time in tournament history, having won the gold medal last year in Regina and Saskatoon, Sask. This year's bronze medal marked the seventh medal in U.S. National Junior Team history, and fourth in the last eight years.
Kreider was the leading scorer for Team USA. He collected four goals and two assists in six games. The New York Rangers draft pick will now return to the Boston College to resume his sophomore season.
