VJW Squirt Major Selects Take Time to Help Others In Need
MVFB_logo_300.jpgOne VJW team is working hard to help others in need.

Mark Lester's Valley Jr Warriors Squirt Major Select team is helping to support the efforts of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

The team recently learned that
the Merrimack Valley Food Bank will run out of food supplies by the end of March unless food collections increase significantly. As a result, the VJW Squirt Major Select hockey team has committed to help.

Here is more information on this important charitable endeavor and how you can help the VJW team support the efforts of Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

Why such need?

Due to poor economic conditions and the rising cost of living, the Food Bank is in a critical state. Donations are down, yet demand continues to increase. Not only is the Food Bank
supplying food for the homeless and local soup kitchens, it is now serving more “working poor” than anytime in its history.

What can a hockey team do?
Our team of players and coaches want to make a difference. Being a good player starts with being a good person. We want our athletes to have a greater appreciation for what they have while recognizing the needs of our less fortunate neighbors. So the Valley Jr. Warrior Squirt Major Select hockey team is sponsoring a food drive with the goal of collecting no less than 500 items.

How can YOU help?
Drop an extra item into your food cart at the grocery store or find one in your pantry to
donate. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Valley Forum Ice Facility in both Lawrence and Haverhill through February 22. In addition, our players will each be dropping off bags throughout their neighborhood to collect additional items. Your small donation can help make a big difference.

We appreciate your donations of non-perishable food for those in need in our communities
