VJW Teams Set For Mass Hockey Tier I & Tier II State Championship Playdowns
It is a weekend where there is truly… so much hockey and so little time.

During a weekend when some of the region’s top Junior A teams – including the host Valley Jr Warriors Junior A squad – will compete in the 14th Annual Warrior Classic, three Warriors teams will take part in the Massachusetts Hockey Tier I & Tier II State Championship Playdowns.

Featured this week will be three VJW teams – the U-16 I, U-16 II and VJW ’95 Elites. Games will be contested in Saugus, Foxboro and South Boston.

VJW ’95 Elites
It has been yet another season to remember for the Warriors. Through 14 league games, the Warriors have posted an 11-0-3 record. As a result of their strong play, the team earned a third-place seed and a matchup against South Shore on Friday. They will then take on the Central Mass Outlaws and Western Mass on Saturday in hopes of advancing to Sunday’s final. All playoff games will be contested at the Kasabuski Arena in Saugus.

VJW U-16 I
It has been another strong season the Warriors, but the players are looking forward to continuing its streak this weekend in the all-important Massachusetts Hockey Tier I State Championship Playdowns. This past season, Mike Holubowich’s team skated to a 10-0 record in league play and an equally impressive 9-1-3 record in non-league action. One year ago, the squad came through with a dramatic overtime win in the finals of the Massachusetts State Tier 1 Championships contest to earn a spot at the USA Hockey Tier 1 National Tournament. This weekend's playoff games will be held in Foxboro.

It has been another strong season for the Valley Jr Warriors U-16 II team which is looking to make a second straight appearance at the USA Hockey Tier 1 & II National Tournament. Thus far in the season, the Warriors have posted an impressive 25-3-0 record including a 13-1-0 mark in league play. Just one week ago, the Warriors defeated the 495 Stars in the semifinals and then Weymouth in the finals of the Massachusetts Tier II U16 Midget Development League Playoffs.

The Warriors will begin their title quest on Friday with a contest against Cape Cod. The following day the squad will enjoy a rematch with the 495 Stars before facing off against the EMass Senators in hopes of advancing to Sunday's final game at 5:00 p.m. All games will be played in South Boston.
