The Valley Jr. Warriors '96 Elites enjoyed an impressive run to the playoffs at the 2009 Warrior National Showcase held in August at the Haverhiil Valley Forum.
The team posted a 3-2-0 overall record before suffering a loss to the Manchester Flames in the divisional semifinal.
In the thrilling semifinal in Lawrence, the Manchester Flames scored at the 2:49 mark of the first overtime period to prevail by a score of 3-2 over the Valley Jr Warriors Elites. The Warriors jumped on the scoreboard first when Robert Carpenter netted the game’s first goal of the game at the 10:15 mark of the first period. The Flames responded less than four minutes later thanks to a tally by Camden Brown.
Following a scoreless second period, the Flames grabbed their first lead of the game when Evan Tyros, off an assist from Bryan Syrene, netted his first goal of the game at the 9:58 mark of the second period.
The Warriors responded less than four minutes later when Nolan Redler found the back of the net. That set the stage for a dramatic finish. Noah Duplessis came through for Manchester with the unassisted game winner.
Congratulations goes out to all of the players on a job well done at the pre-season tournament.
