Running For a Cause... Andy Heinze Raises Money at the 2009 Boston Marathon
It may be the off season for his team, but Andy Heinze has been spending his free moments training as hard as ever. The veteran head coach and general manager of the Valley Jr Warriors Junior A team and former Merrimack College standout is coming off an impressive showing at the 2009 Boston Marathon.
While his work ethic preparing for the 26-mile marathon should serve as motivation for his young players, the reason for the run was most memorable and admirable.
Heinze joined forces with five childhood friends – Rob Cheevers, Sherril Cheevers-DeBonis, Andrea Abrahamson-Derby, Jude Logue and Chris Logue – in order to raise money for Mass General Cystic Fibrosis. One of the friends has two daughters who battle daily with cystic fibrosis.
The team raised more than \$9,800 for the cause. Congratulations to Coach Heinze and all of his teammates.
