Despite having to finish off the season and prepare for the March playoff run, the VJW '99 Select team has been keeping itself especially busy these days.
The team - led by Head Coach Mark Lester - came together to participate in the First Annual Turkey Bowl in order to raise money for "Operation Phone Home". As part of the fundraiser, each VJW player was given the chance to throw five frozen turkeys and knock down a set of bowling pins. Every pin was worth two points, and each player was responsible for obtaining sponsors in order to raise as much money as possible.
In total, the VJW '99 Selects raised a remarkable \$1,025 for the cause. That money will be used to purchase prepaid phone cards that will be sent to the troops serving in Iraq.
Following the festivities, the team enjoyed a night of tubing at the Nashoba Valley Ski Area!
This marks the second major fundraiser that the VJW '99 Select team has participated in this season. During the holiday break, the team came together to take part in The Eagle-Tribune Santa Fund, an annual fundraising initiative that raises money to help those in need of assistance during the holiday season.
Congratulations to the VJW '99 Select team on a truly admirable endeavor!
