Many VJW teams have been busy this holiday season... both on and off the ice! As a way of giving back to the local community, the Warriors have been donating their time and resources to raising money for local charities in need.
"It is always gratifying to see our players and families dedicate their time during this busy season to giving back," noted Fred Devereaux, the VJW director of player development. "Our goal as a program is to not only develop strong players, but to nurture a sense of community and responsibility."
One team that recently accomplished that goal was the VJW Mite Select team. Paul Sacco's young squad (see photo below) celebrated the holiday season by collecting and donating toys for the Toys for Tots organization, which serves children from across the state.
The '95 Elite and '95 Select programs also came together to donate handfuls of toys for needy children. Spearheaded by '95 Elite player and program organizer Trip Franzese, the players came together for the fourth straight year to raise toys for the Toys For Tots program. The players are shown below along with Captain Roy Vasque of the Lawrence Police Department.
These three squads join the '97 VJW Select team, which just recently raised more than \$1,200 for the Susan G Komen for the Cure.
Congratulations to all of these players for a job well done.
